Your Guide to the UK’s Music Festival Season for Summer 2026

As summer approaches, the UK’s festival landscape is set to burst into action, offering diverse experiences for every musical preference. While Glastonbury takes a break this year, fans need not worry—there are still numerous events to anticipate. From coastal vibes to urban energy, the season promises something for all tastes, including new festivals making their debut.

Big Names and Familiar Faces

The Reading and Leeds Festival, running from 27th to 30th August, is a highlight with its strong lineup of British and Irish acts. Charli XCX, Chase & Status, Dave, Florence + The Machine, Fontaines D.C., and Raye will headline, while Leeds will host a special Thursday night performance by Kasabian. For those drawn to live performances by Lewis Capaldi, The Cure, and Teddy Swims, the Isle of Wight Festival, held on 18th–21st June, offers a memorable weekend. Wet Leg, a local indie rock band, will also feature, promising standout moments.

Camping or Comfort?

If the idea of sleeping under the stars appeals, Boardmasters in Cornwall will take place from 5th–9th August, featuring Fatboy Slim, Lily Allen, and The Kooks. For a more relaxed experience without the tent, TRNSMT in Glasgow delivers a three-day lineup from 19th–21st June, including CMAT, Wolf Alice, and Two Door Cinema Club. BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend moves to Sunderland from 22nd–24th May, showcasing Olivia Dean, Zara Larsson, and Niall Horan.

New Horizons

Several fresh festivals are set to captivate audiences this year. Silverworks Island in East London, a beloved spot on the River Thames, hosts events from June to July, featuring Pendulum, Fisher, and Tiesto. In Kent, Lovebox returns to Margate after seven years, with Rudimental, Armand Van Helden, and Groove Armada performing on 29th–30th May. Meanwhile, Labyrinth on the Thames, which gained traction last year, will showcase Dom Dolla, Peggy Gou, and Michael Bibi in August.

Genre-Specific Festivals

For rock and alternative enthusiasts, Download Festival remains a top draw, with Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses, and Linkin Park headlining in the East Midlands from 12th–14th June. The Lake District’s Kendal Calling, running from 30th July to 2nd August, delivers an indie-heavy lineup featuring Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice, and The Libertines. Dance music fans can enjoy Creamfields in Cheshire (27th–30th August) with Swedish House Mafia, Martin Garrix, and Armin van Buuren, or Parklife in Manchester (20th–21st June) with Calvin Harris, Skepta, and Sammy Virji.

A Season for All

Whether you prefer headlining acts, intimate settings, or emerging talent, the UK’s summer festivals cater to every style. Events like Boomtown in Hampshire (12th–16th August) will feature Skrillex, Four Tet, and Faithless, while State Fayre—a new festival for rock, country, and folk lovers—adds to the mix. With dates spanning from late May to early July, there’s no shortage of opportunities to experience the vibrant energy of live music across the country.
