Singer D4vd Arrested in Connection with Teen Girl’s Death
Los Angeles police announced the arrest of US singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, on suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old girl who disappeared last year. The TikTok star, known for his music and social media presence, is now facing charges related to the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose remains were discovered in his Tesla in September 2025. The case will be formally presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday, following his detention without bail.
Discovery of Remains Sparks Investigation
Authorities received reports of a strange smell emanating from a vehicle, leading to the uncovering of Celeste’s remains in a Hollywood tow yard. Her decomposed head and torso were found in a cadaver bag within the front boot of a Tesla registered to D4vd’s Texas address. Court documents revealed the body was in “severe decomposition,” with the medical examiner delaying a final determination on the cause of death until further analysis.
“We have arrested Burke for the murder of Celeste Rivas,” stated Los Angeles police on Thursday.
Officials noted that the girl may have been deceased for several weeks prior to the discovery. Despite months of investigation, no public details about her cause of death had been released, leaving the case shrouded in mystery. A judge ordered her death records to be sealed in November to protect the integrity of the evidence during the probe.
Background and Personal Details
Celeste, a first-generation daughter of immigrant parents from El Salvador, was a familiar face in her community. Neighbors recalled her frequent visits to the local corner store for candy and soda, according to the Los Angeles Times. Her body was discovered wearing a small black tube top, leggings, and jewelry, including a yellow metal stud earring and a yellow chain bracelet. Notably, she had a tattoo on her index finger reading “Shhh…,” mirroring the same marking on D4vd’s hand.
Her family last reported her missing in April 2024, though she had a history of running away from their Lake Elsinore home. The lack of clear details has fueled public speculation, with many connecting her fate to the “Romantic Homicide” singer’s enigmatic persona.
Impact on D4vd’s Career and Public Perception
Shortly after the body was found, D4vd abruptly canceled his world tour, signaling a dramatic shift in his public image. The move marked the decline of his pop career and his retreat from the spotlight. Police had previously raided his Hollywood Hills mansion, located near the site where the Tesla was towed. His association with brands like Hollister and Crocs was also terminated, and Telepatía singer Kali Uchis removed their collaborative project, “Crashing,” from public view.
The arrest has intensified scrutiny on D4vd, who has remained largely silent since the incident. His representatives confirmed his cooperation with authorities, though the details shared with the public have been limited. The case has become a focal point for media and fans, as questions about the girl’s connection to the singer continue to grow.
