AA Driving School Fined for Concealing Lesson Costs from Learners
The Automobile Association Developments has been subjected to a £4.2m penalty and mandated to issue refunds to numerous learner drivers after withholding full pricing information during online bookings, as revealed by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). This action follows an examination of consumer practices by the regulatory body.
The investigation uncovered that the AA Driving School and BSM failed to present complete cost details at the time of booking, leading to an agreement for the company to distribute £760,000 in compensation. This amounts to approximately £9 per customer among the over 80,000 affected individuals.
The CMA confirmed that the AA acknowledged its legal transgression and opted to resolve the case through settlement.
